After a long 2.5 months, I am finally back with my boyfriend Luke in his hometown of Alexandria, VA!!!! I arrived late Thursday night so we took Friday and Saturday to explore Old Town Alexandria and Arlington.
Friday – Luke had class in the morning but then we headed out to Arlington for lunch and happy hour and then Navy Yard for some drinks!
- Liberty Tavern – We hit this spot for lunch and it was FIRE. I got a marg and a fried chicken sando. My sister’s husband is a fried chicken sandwich connoisseur so we usually rate every single one we have. Luke said this was his favorite one (VERY high praise) and I would say this was top 3.
- Mexicali – We then took a quick stroll over to Mexicali for some happy hour margs! They also give you some free chips and salsa so HUGE win for me.
- Blue Jacket – To end the night we headed over to Blue Jacket in Navy Yard. We got some nice outdoor seats next to the heater and ordered some beers. Luke and I ended up ordering some apps since the chicken sando kept us full for the remained of the day. We got the following items:
- Fried Cauliflower – Not your typical fried cauliflower (aka not buffalo) but was super different and tasty
- Buffalo Wings – The only thing Luke eats
- Tots – These were unlike any tots I have eaten before. They were basically fried mashed potato bites. A dream come true!
Saturday – While we’ve been to Old Town a few times, we decided to head to the first place we went when we started dating.
- Bugsy’s Pizza – This is just a classic pizza spot right on King St. There are a lot of different options but we were looking for cheap, good and a little sentimental. I’ve personally never really tried deep dish pizza and though we aren’t in Chicago, it was SUPER good! We also got a classic caesar salad because it is my favorite food.
- Pop’s Ice Cream – Lucky for us, Luke’s favorite spot was hosting a free ice cream day! We each got an ice cream – Luke got Black Ras per usual and I got S’mores. This is a great little spot on King St. as well!
- Side Streets – I highly recommend walking around the waterfront at the bottom of King St. as well as the side streets. There are so many beautiful and historic homes to see!
- George Washington Parkway – This scenic road takes you all the way out to Mount Vernon. While we didn’t stop at Mount Vernon, we enjoyed the views of the Potomac rive as we listened to some music.
We still have MUCH more exploring to do but I loved spending some quality with my mans.
xx
